How would you like to have a way to get the most from the self development books you already have? Below is a simple 5 step strategy that when you apply it to the invaluable books or course materials, it will really help you if you've got that nagging feeling that you neglected to give yourself the gift of getting the results that you originally imagined that you would always have when you first bought the materials. Once you've mastered these steps the possibilities are endless as to what other learning media they can be applied to.
5 steps to maximize the power of reading
1) Keep your outcome in mind
-before you start reading get leverage on yourself....
-What ultimately would be the greatest outcome you could get from reading this book? a fantastic relationship? a healthy mind and body? Enough financial independence to do what ever you want? a bit of fun & self discovery? Visualize your outcome and get sense of how it will feel when you get your outcome, lock it into your physiology and then start reading
-start right now by imagining what you want from reading this article, what's going to be the knock on effect? which book are you going to buy or read that you know you really really got to get to reading that you haven't yet? are you ready to take action, log off, and get reading that book, as soon as you've finished reading this article?
-When you're reading the book, imagine that the author is standing right in front of you giving you one to one tuition
-Visualize the scene, what's your ideal learning location? are you sat on a beach? Are you in a elegant library with marble pillars and stair cases spiraling up to infinite resources of knowledge? or are you learning best just in your own room?
-Imagine going throughout your day, that the author is just over your shoulder, constantly monitoring your every action giving you feedback and advice
-Say if you were to have a one 2 one coaching session how much do you imagine that would cost you? If you had that much money on the line how much more would you focus?
-your time is worth money too, so get involved and invested fully into the author's processes and beliefs when reading the book to get the best value of your time
-to make the most of your time make sure everyday there's not a day that goes by when you're not taking action and applying the knowledge you've learned
-set yourself a target for how much you will ready daily, stick to it, and when you reach your daily target, see if you can do 20% more.
-if you don't get a sentence or concept, read though it again!
-if you still don't get the concept read through it again and again until it fries your brain!
-Then move on to the next step or take a rest to let your unconscious mind process the learnings
-if you get confused, this is a good thing! It means you're about to learn something 5) Trust in the process
-You Cannot Not communicate, its impossible for the author not to impart their wisdom to you through reading the book
-Step by step guides, processes or models just like this one are reversed engineered from results
-You'll only get the results if you strictly adhere to the process and take on the what the author states as 100% true, and take massive action
-once you're getting the results feel free to experiment and do you own thing, if you keep getting the results and have got your own process I'd love to hear and learn from you
Great thoughts, especially the point 2.
